CTT top performer worldwide in two sustainability rankings

1 April, 2024

CTT - Correios de Portugal was awarded top performances worldwide in the two sustainability rankings in which it participates: the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and the Sustainability Measurement and Management System (SMMS) of the International Post Corporation (IPC).

In 2023, the company scored A- in the Climate Change aspect of the CDP, achieving a score higher than the European and world average for transport and logistics companies - which scored B and C respectively - and is part of the group of 12 per cent of companies in this sector that have reached the leadership level.

To determine the results, CDP 2023 analysed the carbon performance of companies in the sector in 11 categories, with CTT reaching the leadership level in terms of: scope 1 and 2 emissions, risk management processes, emission reduction initiatives and low carbon products, governance and energy.

In the IPC SMMS ranking, CTT achieved a score of 79%, 6 percentage points more than in 2022, maintaining 5th place in a group of 23 postal operators worldwide.

The programme in question aims to address the postal sector's sustainability goals by the end of the decade, focusing on seven categories of intervention: health and safety, training, resource efficiency, climate change, air quality, circular economy and sustainable purchasing.

The IPC highlights the increase in the use of electric vehicles, as well as the consequent reduction in scope 1 and 2 emissions, as positive aspects of CTT's performance in relation to the sector. At the same time, it also highlights carbon efficiency and all the developments made in terms of health and safety at work.
