Portuguese stamps awarded in Italy

The philatelic block of CTT's stamp issue “Christmas”, which is unique in the world because of its stamp with LED light , won one of the most important awards of philatelic artwork,  Asiago 2019 Award, granted in Italy , under the sponsorship of the President of the Italian Republic.

On the occasion Miguel Salema Garção, Director de Communication e Sustainability  of CTT said: “ CTT is deeply proud, on behalf of such noble area as philately , to be awarded for  12th time with one of oldest and most renowned awards for philatelic design in the world , and extends its congratulations to the designer Jorge Macedo, from In-fólio Design, and to the involved philatelic team. This block was another innovation CTT is developing in the field of stamps printing. 

The stamp of the philatelic block uses a small light emitter to light up the Three Wise Men guiding star, activated by any mobile phone with NFC technology.  The stamps of this issue portray each one of the Three Wise Men. With this award  CTT demonstrates to the whole international community how Portuguese philately is one of the most  prestigious and admired philately in the world, with stamps which will remain immortalized in this issue that commemorates these architectural ex-libris.

Since  1962 and until 2020,  CTT has received  65 international awards of philatelic design and issues, which makes Portuguese philately as one of the most awarded in the world.

This issue is constituted by three stamps, with a face value of 0.53€, 0.86€ and 0.91€  and a printing number of  100 000 copies each, as well as by a block with a stamp of 3.50€  and a printing number of  50 000 copies.
