CTT sponsors the Green Fest Event

24 September, 2020

CTT sponsors the Green Fest event, the major sustainability festival in Portugal. This year the participation will be mixed, by adding the digital experience to the physical nature of the event. It will happen between September 25th and 27th in Braga (3rd edition) and from November 20th to 22nd in Estoril (13th edition).

CTT will be digitally present by disclosing its carbon compensation projects, one national and one international, both chosen by the Portuguese people. In the scope of CTT’s carbon management policy, all the Expresso offer has a neutral impact on the greenhouse gas emission effects in Portugal. The carbon emissions produced along the value chain, impossible to avoid, are entirely compensated through the support to projects with social and environmental benefits, like preserving biodiversity, employment management and quality of life improvement at the local communities.

CTT’s physical presence will be reflected on the sale of tree kits from the initiative “a tree for the forest”. This initiative enables everyone to actively participate in the plantation of native species in protected areas, namely in the ones most affected by fires. The kits sold are converted into native trees and bushes like ash trees, cork trees, holm oaks, arbutus or chestnut tree, among others, that will be planted until Spring 2021.

This event was co-created by the Braga and Cascais councils, and intends to be a privileged stage for brainstorming, share and reflect ideas and trends on sustainability. CTT will be present on the debate on the sustainability trends by sharing its experience on this area.

CTT integrates the sustainability concept in the company’s current management, in a continuous attitude of involvement, transparency and commitment. Sustainability is critical to our activity. CTT has made a huge investment to reduce waste and consumptions and to have an electric fleet, tying to carbon compensate its emissions to adapt our network to the urban mobility and sustainability challenges.
